Pochettino warns high-flying Spurs players: Everyone now wants to kill usby Paul Vegas10 months agoSend to a friendShare the loveTottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino has warned his players they’re now a big target after moving into second place.Victory over Tottenham saw them overtake Manchester City to go second behind leaders Liverpool and the win puts them six points behind Jurgen Klopp’s front runners. Pochettino said: “We are there because we have amazing belief – and without that belief it would be impossible to be in this position.“We have faith and we have clear ideas and now the challenge is to keep that because the challenge is going to be tougher than before.“When you are in the top two everyone wants to kill you. It will be so much tougher.“But we need to remain humble and continue working hard as it will now be much more difficult than before.“Then maybe in April or May we can seriously about being serious challengers as there is still a long way to go. Only then will we know if we are true contenders for the title.” About the authorPaul VegasShare the loveHave your say

I talked to Napoli before with directors who are no longer with the club. I will take advantage of the double meeting with Salzburg to talk to them,” Bliemeister told Radio Marte.”As for Son in Naples, why not? You should never say never in football. Son likes Italy, the food and the Italian people. It is not easy to move him to Napoli as he costs a lot, but one day maybe, who knows?”

I’m happy with my assist but even more with the three points. We have to continue like this to get the most points.“My personal goal is to be at Euro 2020. I hope I have convinced the coach.”We could have scored even more. All in all, it was still good. You have to take the playing time with both hands. Twitter/@RedditCFBOklahoma captured the Big 12 championship last weekend in Stillwater, making today’s Baylor vs. Texas game all about pride for the Longhorns, and potential bowl positioning for the Bears. While Baylor entered the game as a heavy favorite, the Longhorns channeled whatever it was that allowed them to upset the Sooners earlier this year. On the game’s final play, Texas nearly picked off Baylor’s Johnny Jefferson to seal a 23-17 victory over the nation’s No. 12 team.Texas Wins! pic.twitter.com/8WcxfEeCHw— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) December 5, 2015On the bright side, one lucky Baylor fan is going to enter the “viral sad fan hall of fame.” Okay, maybe that’s not really the “bright side.”This is what losing to a 4-7 Texas team can do to a person #TEXvsBAY https://t.co/a2ElzjjQtF— RedditCFB (@RedditCFB) December 5, 2015With an early injury to third string quarterback Chris Johnson, Baylor was forced into using wide receiver Lynx Hawthorne behind center. He only managed to complete 10-of-22 passes, and threw two picks. No matter what, we think Charlie Strong and his team will take this win, and the momentum it brings, into the off-season.
Bournemouth are in talks with Liverpool over a loan move for winger Harry Wilson. The Cherries are keen to bring the Wales international to the Vitality Stadium, and have made an official approach to sign the 22-year-old before Thursday’s transfer deadline.Negotiations are ongoing, with sources confirming to Goal that Tuesday is likely to be crucial in terms of finalising terms. Ox-rated! Dream night in Genk for Liverpool ace after injury nightmare Messi a man for all Champions League seasons – but will this really be Barcelona’s? Wilson, it is understood, is keen on the idea of a Premier League loan, which would enable him to gather valuable top-flight experience. Having impressed in the Championship at both Derby County and Hull City over the last 18 months, the youngster is eager to ensure his career continues on an upwards trajectory.Liverpool were initially against the idea of a loan switch, preferring either to sell the player permanently or keep him as part of Jurgen Klopp’s first-team squad. Wilson has featured regularly during pre-season, scoring against both Borussia Dortmund and Lyon, but was left out of the squad for Sunday’s Community Shield defeat to Manchester City. The Reds believe the Wrexham-born wideman has the potential to play games for them this season, but appreciate his desire to feature regularly at Premier League level. They have a strong working relationship with Bournemouth, and believe Eddie Howe to be the kind of manager that would significantly aid the player’s development, if he were to move to the South Coast.Bournemouth have lost David Brooks, Wilson’s team-mate with the Wales national team, to injury ahead of the new season, and it is expected that Wilson would immediately challenge for a starting place on the right flank. He scored 17 goals last season as Derby reached the Championship play-off final.Liverpool expect interest in another winger, Ryan Kent, to be firmed up before this week’s deadline, with Leeds United ready to make a bid to sign the 22-year-old on a permanent basis. Klopp said after last month’s friendly with Napoli in Edinburgh that “the time is over for loans” with Kent, and sources have told Goal that Leeds, long-time admirers of the player, are likely to make a £7 million ($8.5m) offer for the former Rangers loanee once they have sold Kemar Roofe to Anderlecht. The Reds are also likely to allow Herbie Kane, Liam Millar and Pedro Chirivella to depart on temporary deals before the window closes.Liverpool get their 2019-20 Premier League campaign underway with a home clash against Norwich City on August 9 before a Super Cup showdown with Chelsea in Turkey on August 14. COLUMBUS, OH – NOVEMBER 18: Head coach Urban Meyer of the Ohio State Buckeyes watches a replay on the scoreboard during a timeout during the second quarter of the game against the Illinois Fighting Illini on November 18, 2017 at Ohio Stadium in Columbus, Ohio. (Photo by Kirk Irwin/Getty Images)For the second year in a row, Ohio State football suffered a blowout loss to what looked like a middling Big Ten West team. This year, with the rumors and scandal surrounding Urban Meyer serving as a backdrop, the Purdue loss seems even more impactful than the one at Iowa a year ago. After the game, FootballScoop reported that there was “friction” within the program itself, and between Meyer and athletic director Gene Smith, who served a suspension at the same time as Meyer earlier this year, amid the Zach Smith scandal. From the site’s initial report:The past few weeks industry sources have mentioned to FootballScoop issues at Ohio State between the football staff and athletics leadership as well as within the program itself. Multiple times, the term “friction” has been used to describe issues between Urban Meyer and Gene Smith (and their respective key lieutenants). Within the football program itself, it has been said there is a tension that hasn’t been present in previous years.Purdue’s beat down of the Buckeyes brought considerable additional attention on the program and has many talking about the issues within the program. After that report, FootballScoop tweeted that an industry source reached out to say the issues are “worse than you wrote.”Another industry source text me this afternoon, “It’s worse than you wrote.”On the #Friction at Ohio State https://t.co/QmhJD2bLNm— FootballScoop Staff (@FootballScoop) October 22, 2018Meyer responded to the report on Tuesday, stating that while there is “urgency within the staff” to fix the issues that have caused a few weeks of rough play, there is none of the reported friction.Urban Meyer said that of course there is urgency within the coaching staff to fix things, but refuted an internet report from last night that alleged there was “friction” between some of the coaches, or between him and A.D. Gene Smith.— Tim May (@TIM_MAYsports) October 23, 2018Now, Gene Smith has also responded to the reports of friction between he and Urban Meyer at Ohio State. From Bill Landis of The Athletic:I talked with Ohio State AD Gene Smith about his relationship with Urban Meyer, and the report of “friction” between them: “It’s absolutely crazy. We went through the same thing together. I don’t know where that’s coming from.” https://t.co/jZnFT3LRQh— Bill Landis (@BillLandis25) October 24, 2018The full report is behind The Athletic’s pay wall, but Smith assured reporters that he and Meyer remain close, and that there’s “no basis” for the reports. If Ohio State rebounds and knocks off Michigan, wins the Big Ten, and goes back to the playoff, it will probably solve many of these issues. It’s not surprising to hear that some relationships may be strained after what has gone on at Ohio State this year, and especially after a 29-point loss in West Lafayette.[The Athletic]
